CODING
A 'Code' is a 'system of signals'. Therefore, coding is a method of transmitting messages between the sender and receiver with out a third person understanding it.
The coding and decoding test is set up to judge the candidate's ability to decipher the law that codes a particular message and break the code to reveal the message.
The coding and decoding test is set up to judge the candidate's ability to decipher the law that codes a particular message and break the code to reveal the message.
LETTER CODING
Eg: In a certain code language BREAK is code as ASDBJ. How will the word SOLAR be written in that code language?
(a) RPKBS (b) TPMBS (c) RPKBQ (d) TPKBQ
Ans:(c) RPKBQ
B R E A K -------> A S D B J
similarly
S O L A R-----------> R P K B Q
NUMBER CODING
Eg: If in a certain code ROPE is coded 6821, CHAIR is coded as 73456, then what will be the code for CRAPE?
(a) 73456 (b) 76421 (c) 77246 (d) 77213
Clearly, in the given code, the alphabets are coded as follows.
R O P E C H A I
6 8 2 1 7 3 4 5
So CRAPE is coded as 76421. answer (b).
MIXED CODING
In this type questions, three or four complete messages are given in the coded language and the code for a particular word is asked.
Eg: In a certain language 'sam tap' 'play game' and 'tap rem' means 'fair game'. What is the code for 'Game' in that code language?
(a) Sam (b) Tap (c) Rem (d) Rap
Ans: (b), In the statements the common word is Game and the common code is tap. It means that the code for Game is tap.
BLOOD RELATIONSHIP
In these questions, the success of PSC Candidates depends upon the knowledge of the blood relations, some of which are summarized below to help to solve these tests.
